This program is targeted at Master Gardeners, or those with an interest in England’s spectacular gardens. Participants will have a student experience at Harlaxton Manor and enjoy tours and activities exclusive to this beautiful and inspirational setting. The main focuses of this program is to visit and to be inspired by some of England’s finest gardens.

There is a $250 deposit due upon booking for this program, which is only refundable until the deposit deadline of March 1st.  After that date, registrants will be prompted to pay their final balance, which is only refundable until the final payment deadline of March 18th.

This creative residential retreat is designed to facilitate writing for nurses and health professionals with completion of a selected project of the participant’s choice. Participants will enjoy uninterrupted writing time and supportive feedback at Harlaxton Manor – an English Manor set in a beautiful and inspirational setting. Harlaxton Manor is in the peaceful English countryside with an environment that facilitates thoughtful writing.

The main goals of this retreat are to (a) provide participants with dedicated time to work on their projects away from the stressors of daily life; (b) build sustainable writing skills, and (c) network with other developing and accomplished writers. The retreat is designed for any beginning or experienced academic or scholarly writer seeking restorative time and project mentoring. The retreat outcome retreat is to finish a self-selected writing project. The week-long retreat agenda includes self-directed blocks of writing time with many opportunities for review from the expert retreat faculty. Examples of projects that would be suitable for this creative writing retreat include a manuscript for publication, grant proposals, professional applications for organizations and boards, and university promotion self-statements, among others.

Faculty Facilitators are Dr Judith Halstead and Dr. Gayle Roux. Dr. Halstead is the co-editor of the textbook Teaching in Nursing: A Guide for Faculty, the leading text for faculty educators for over 25 years. Dr. Roux is the Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Nursing Research. Drs. Halstead and Roux have extensive experience as authors of books, scholarly publications, grants, and comprehensive academic reports.

Join us for the SoTL Teaching and Learning Summer Conference at Harlaxton College, 23rd – 26th June 2027! This conference is designed for professional development in higher education pedagogy for all levels of teaching experience: advance graduate students, early-career faculty, and experienced faculty.

Alumni 50th Anniversary

Join us at the spectacular Harlaxton College, the perfect place to dive into the culture, creativity, and communities of England. On this trip we will take you to an 11^th century castle, the birthplace of Shakespeare and York, a medieval masterpiece, where you will have time to visit a Viking street and Roman ruins in addition to the medieval city walls and the original Diagon Alley. You will also have plenty of time at the Manor to explore old haunts and reminisce about your time at Harlaxton as a student. One of the trip highlights will be a Harlaxton themed pub quiz!
