Harlaxton College is an ideal partner for your customized program. We offer extraordinary experiences and look forward to collaborating with you to bring your course or idea to life with our location, travel, and experience.
Custom programs are a great way to get to know us if you are thinking about partnership, or to engage with us on a unique program topic or institutional need. We work with 20-30 custom programs each year, ranging in length from 5 days to 5 weeks, in summer and during semester terms. We customize programs led by your faculty or that bring in our local programming expertise. Our Place
Custom program groups enjoy the facilities of Harlaxton! Of course, the beautiful Victorian manor house setting is amazing for you and your students to explore and learn in. We also include:
- Residential dorm-style housing and separate faculty lodging
- Full cafeteria meal service, catered to any dietary needs
- Classrooms equipped with modern technology
Our Travel
Located in the East Midlands of England, Harlaxton is a great location to base your exploration of the UK. We are only 1 hour from London and 4 hours from Edinburgh by train, and we know all the best local sites to complement your coursework. Common excursion destinations include:
- York
- Cambridge
- Leicester
- Nottingham
- London (day or overnight)
- Edinburgh (overnight)
Our Experience
We have over 50 years of study abroad experience and run 20-30 custom programs every year. Our local staff, faculty, and broader connections give you and your students a truly unique and meaningful time in the UK. Our custom programs team will work with you to create the right program for your needs!
Getting Started
We ask for an initial request for all programs you wish to operate at the manor. Once you have submitted this request, our customized programs team will contact you with any questions or follow-up. We are happy to discuss your needs and help determine if Harlaxton is a good fit for your program.
For 2024, we will be open for summer programs May 6-August 10. During our Harlaxton summer terms (June 3-July 3 and July 8-August 7), space may be more limited. We also have capacity to host some groups during times like December, J-term, and spring break. Please complete the request form to start a conversation with the team about dates for your custom program at Harlaxton!
Next Steps
Step 1: Request form: please complete this form to indicate the dates and subjects you are interested in. Our customized programs team will respond to hold your room reservation and start the proposal process.
Step 2: Proposal: Our team will prepare an initial program proposal for you that will give you an itinerary, pricing, and other details about what to expect. We can make changes as much as you would like!
Step 3: Contract: Once we are all happy with your proposal, our team will send over a contract with all the final details, which sets your price and deadlines. These often have to go through legal offices but are important to finalize the program!
Step 4: Preparations: Now it’s time for you to recruit participants and us to get everything booked and ready for your group!
Step 5: Final numbers and payment: About 2 months before your program, you should have the final roster for us. Payment and some registration forms for participants will be due about 1 month before the program.
Step 6: Final details: The UK team will hold a group leader orientation and will work with you on final logistics after payment is received, about 1 month before the program. Then you will be on your way to your program at Harlaxton!
