College Library

Find inspiration in the calm and focused atmosphere of our popular College Library. Housed in the historic North Wing of the Manor – once home to the original Manor Kitchens – the Library offers a unique blend of tradition and academic purpose. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing a quiet, silent study space whenever you need it.

Surrounding the main Library are additional study areas and discussion rooms, ideal for group work or quieter collaborative sessions.

The Library facilities include:

  • A collection of over 16,000 books covering a broad range of subjects
  • Designated formal silent study areas
  • A Shakespeare DVD collection
  • Photocopying and printing facilities
  • Special Collections, including the College Archives and the Kirkham Library Collection

Our collections are fully accessible through our online catalogue: https://uk.accessit.online/hrl03/

Study Skills Support

The Library is more than just a place to read and research – it’s also here to help you develop the academic skills you need to succeed. We offer:

  • Study skills workshops covering topics such as essay writing, revision strategies, referencing and time management
  • One-to-one appointments for personalized guidance tailored to your individual academic needs
  • Support for independent research – including how to use academic databases, evaluate sources, and structure academic assignments
  • Advice on academic integrity and avoiding plagiarism through proper referencing techniques
